What a Peloton can still do after the membership ends

dayanother.com Editorial Team ·

A Peloton Bike is still the machine you bought after the membership fee stops. What stops is the paid service on the screen: live classes, on-demand classes, and the other content and features Peloton provides through that service. Cancelling does not leave the class library on the bike.

What remains, and what stops

  • Still works: Peloton’s membership terms treat the Bike as a product and the membership as the thing that supplies classes, content, and features on that product while the membership stays active. The terms do not say the pedals stop turning when the fee stops.
  • Stops working: If you cancel the subscription, or Peloton ends it, you lose access to all live and on-demand classes and to the other content and features provided through the Peloton service.
  • Needs subscription: Full access to the classes, content, and features on a Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread+, Row, or Row+, including up to 20 household profiles on an All-Access membership, lasts only while that membership remains active.
  • Needs previous owner removed: Not applicable when you are ending your own membership. The license to use the service cannot be handed to someone else, and a gifted All-Access membership cannot be transferred with the bike.
  • Can work offline: Not stated. The terms tie class access to a login on the Peloton service. They do not describe a class library that stays on the bike with no account.
  • Last checked: September 29, 2026. Membership Terms and Terms of Service, each marked last updated October 1, 2025.

The bike, the screen, and the account

The hardware and the service are different things in Peloton’s own terms. A Peloton Product is a connected machine: a Bike, a Bike+, a Tread, a Tread+, a Row, or a Row+. An All-Access membership is a paid subscription that may be bought or received in connection with one of those products. While it remains active, it gives the membership holder and people in the same household, up to 20 user profiles, full access to the classes, content, and features Peloton makes available on one product from each product category at that address. One membership can cover one bike and one tread and one row. It cannot cover two bikes in the same household.

That access is not stored as a stack of classes you own. For every membership type, access to classes, content, and features requires a member to log in with Peloton account credentials. The Terms of Service say the same thing from the other side: full access to the service means registering and entering a subscription for live and on-demand classes, content, and features.

An App membership is a different product and does not fill the gap. It gives one user profile access to classes on the Peloton App. It does not give access to classes, content, and features on Peloton Products. If the All-Access membership on the bike ends, an App plan is not a substitute that puts the bike’s class library back on the screen.

Profiles sit on the account, not in the flywheel. All-Access allows up to 20 user profiles at one residential address, and only for as long as that membership remains active. The membership holder is responsible for all activity under the membership. Scores, workout history, and other material you added are user content in the account. The terms do not say those scores keep updating on the bike after the subscription ends.

What ends when the membership ends

This article is about the subscription ending, not about Peloton shutting the company down and not about a software update clock running out.

If you cancel, you may keep using the membership until the end of the period you already paid for. It does not renew after that period expires. Peloton does not owe a prorated refund of the fee for the current period, aside from specific cancellation rights the membership terms list for certain residents of Canada and New York. A committed plan that was sold as longer than one month can still leave you responsible for the rest of that committed period.

When the subscription is cancelled or otherwise terminated, the Terms of Service are direct: you lose access to all live and on-demand classes and to any other content or features provided through the Peloton service. Peloton may, at its own choice, make a very limited amount of content or features available to non-subscribers from time to time. That sentence is the opposite of a promise that the library stays. Whatever limited offering exists can be what Peloton decides to offer, and the terms do not name it as the catalog you had while you were paying.

The page for that change is the account page at onepeloton.com/mymembership, or Peloton Member Support at 1-866-679-9129.

Compare that with a dashcam that has already written files onto a card in the camera. A file that is already on the device can keep working when a cloud plan does not. Peloton’s classes are not described that way. They are content provided through the service, and the terms say that access ends when the subscription ends. The pedals are the part that belongs to the machine. The classes, the household profiles, and the saved progress belong to the account.

What to check on Peloton’s current terms

Open two pages and read the dates at the top. On September 29, 2026, both were marked last updated October 1, 2025.

The Membership Terms are at https://www.onepeloton.com/membership-terms. Look for the All-Access definition, the line that access lasts only while the membership remains active, the cancellation section, and the sentence that every membership type requires a login. Also read the line that an App membership does not unlock Peloton Products.

The Terms of Service are at https://www.onepeloton.com/terms-of-service. Look at the section on termination and account deletion. The sentence to find is the one that says cancelling the subscription means losing live and on-demand classes and the other content and features provided through the service, and the following sentence that any non-subscriber access is a limited amount Peloton may choose to offer.

On the bike, look at whether the screen still asks for the account and whether the classes you used last month are still listed after the paid period has ended. The terms do not promise that they will be. In the account, go to https://www.onepeloton.com/mymembership and confirm the date the current period ends. That is the date paid access stops, not the date you clicked cancel. Profile details sit at https://members.onepeloton.com/preferences/profile-info.

If other people use the same screen, the Terms of Service say you are responsible for activity under your account and that you should log out when other people can reach the device. Cancelling the fee does not, by itself, sign those people out.

What to do before the membership ends

Do the account work before the paid period ends. Cancel from https://www.onepeloton.com/mymembership, or call 1-866-679-9129, if you want the membership to stop renewing. You keep the membership through the end of the period you have already paid. Wait until that date if you still want the classes.

Do not delete the account in the same step as cancelling, unless you intend to give up what is stored there. The Terms of Service say that if the account is deleted, user content may no longer be available, and Peloton is not responsible for that loss. Separately, if Peloton terminates the membership, Peloton has the right to delete all data, files, and other information stored in or for the account without further notice. Cancellation by you and deletion of the account are not the same act. Treat them as separate decisions.

A download of workout history is not described in the two documents opened for this article, so this page does not claim that a spreadsheet export exists. If you need a copy of scores or class history, look for that tool in the account before you delete it, and do not assume a file type or a deadline that those two documents do not state.

Signing out matters if the screen is shared. Log out after you use the service on a device other people can open. That is the step the terms name. There is no step here for keeping a class login you are no longer paying for.

Leaving the bike set up is the local part. Nothing in the membership terms says you must factory-reset the bike to finish a cancellation. Resetting is how people wipe a screen they still needed. Leave the machine as it is until you have decided what to do with the account.

One fact that belongs to this membership

An All-Access membership at one home covers up to 20 user profiles, and only one Peloton Product from each category: one bike or Bike+, and separately one tread, and separately one row. It does not cover two bikes at that address. Those profiles and that class access exist only while the membership remains active, and only after someone logs in with Peloton credentials. When the paid period ends and the membership does not renew, that household access is over. A second bike in the house was never included.

The license to the service is limited, non-transferable, and revocable. A gifted or promotional All-Access membership has no cash value and cannot be assigned, transferred, or sold. Ending the membership does not hand the class login to the next person who buys the bike.

The mistake that makes this worse

The mistake is cancelling and then treating the screen as if the class library were still yours. The terms say the opposite. Live and on-demand classes, and the other content and features provided through the service, stop when the subscription ends. The only non-subscriber access the terms describe is a very limited amount that Peloton may offer or not, at its discretion. Planning your week around the old catalog, or telling a buyer that the membership comes with the bike, builds on an access the contract does not keep.

Deleting the account before you have dealt with user content is the other half of the same mistake. Deletion can make that content unavailable. Cancel the renewal if you want the fee to stop. Keep the account until you are finished with what it holds. The pedals are not the part the membership terms switch off. The classes are.
